Comfortmakerâ SoftSound™ R-410A Outdoor Units Now
up to 56 percent Smaller; Among the Smallest on the Market

LEWISBURG, Tenn., Feb. 27, 2009) – Comfortmaker® SoftSound™ R-410A split-system air-conditioner and heat pump outdoor units are now even easier to install and sell thanks to a new design that makes them up to 56 percent smaller,  28 percent lighter than they used to be and among the smallest models on the market.

The government-mandated transition to 13 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) resulted in a size increase for condensers across the entire HVAC market in 2006. In response to customer surveys conducted by Comfortmaker manufacturer International Comfort Products (ICP), dealers asked for smaller outdoor units that will fit applications with limited available footprint space and can fit through narrow gates and doorways.

To meet these dealer requests,, ICP designed smaller and lighter units by incorporating a smaller base pan. The new units have contractor-friendly installation features, reliable performance and strong warranties. In fact, the shorter and smaller new design of these units makes small-space installation easier. For example, a 2.5-ton unit previously measuring 35.9 inches high with a footprint of 31.2 inches by 32.3 inches is now just 28.7 inches high with a footprint of 23.5 inches square. That’s 21 cubic feet and 178 pounds reduced to 9.2 cubic feet and 128 pounds!

Available in 53 models, the smaller sized units reduce freight costs, reduce warehouse space, allow easier handling, increase installation flexibility and create a lower profile. Plus, these units still offer a number of other features that make them tougher, quieter, easier to install and service, and easier to sell.

Comfortmaker SoftSound™ split-system air-conditioner and heat pump warranties are among the strongest available, offering up to 10 years of limited warranty coverage on parts, including compressors and coils, and up to 10 years of No Hassle Replacement™ limited warranty coverage. The No Hassle Replacement™ limited warranty provides a new equivalent replacement unit should the compressor or covered coil fail during the No-Hassle period (with a labor allowance for the dealer). Restrictions apply. Action may be required. Contact your local Comfortmaker distributor for details.
