New Comfortmaker® 96 Percent Plus AFUE Gas Furnaces
Designed for Easier Installation, Service

LEWISBURG, Tenn., Nov. 28, 2011 – International Comfort Products, LLC (ICP) introduces a new line of Comfortmaker® SoftSound® 96 percent plus AFUE gas furnaces, featuring models with stainless steel primary and secondary heat exchangers.

ICP designed the new line of 96 percent plus Comfortmaker gas furnaces after conducting focus groups with dealers across the country. ICP General Manager J.T. Holtschlag said, “Dealers asked for a shorter, more compact line with more models above 95 percent AFUE. With this new furnace line, we are giving dealers exactly what they requested.”

New Comfortmaker 96% Gas FurnaceThese new Comfortmaker 96 percent plus furnaces are available in four product families:

• SoftSound VC 97: Modulating, variable-speed ECM at 97 percent AFUE.

• SoftSound VT 96: Two-stage variable-speed at 96 percent AFUE.

• SoftSound IIX 96: Two-stage Xtra SEER* model at 96 percent AFUE.

• SoftSound DLX 96: Single-stage Xtra SEER* model at 96 percent AFUE.

The new Comfortmaker 96 percent plus gas furnace line is designed to be easier to install and service and is:

  • Reliable – The new line features a simple but reliable gas valve, a proven Rigid Press Joint (RPJ®) heat exchanger, and dependable silicon nitride hot surface ignitors. VC 97 and VT 96 models are built with stainless steel primary and secondary heat exchangers.
  • Smaller Cabinets – The new furnaces are only 35 inches tall for easier installation in tight places.
  • Quieter – The blower motor of the new 96 percent plus furnaces is attached with soft-mount rubber grommets that absorb sound and vibration. All SoftSound models have an insulated heat exchanger and blower compartments to muffle sound and absorb vibration noise.
  • Easier to Handle – These new gas furnaces weigh less than their counterparts in the previous 90 percent plus furnace line, and cabinet edges are hemmed to give installers safer and easier handholds for lifting the furnaces.
  • Easier-to-read Sight Glass – Newly designed sight glass combined with a super-bright LED makes diagnostic flash codes easier to read in the event the unit requires service.
  • Easy Access – These new gas furnaces feature large, one-quarter turn knobs for door installation and removal.
  • Multi-position – These new gas furnaces are designed for four-way multi-position installation, with at least 12 different venting options to meet the needs of virtually any installation.

Comfortmaker Maximum Strength Warranties cover the new 96 percent plus gas furnaces with a 10-year limited warranty on parts, a lifetime limited warranty on the heat exchanger, and up to 10 years of No Hassle Replacement™ limited warranty on SoftSound models. Limited warranties on parts and heat exchangers apply to original owner when installed in an owner-occupied single family residence and properly registered within 90 days after original installation. Limited warranty period is five years for parts and 20 years for the heat exchanger if not registered within 90 days of installation. Original owner in jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will receive the registered limited warranty periods. Please see warranty certificate for further details, restrictions, and registration instructions.

The No Hassle Replacement limited warranty provides a new equivalent replacement unit should the heat exchanger fail during the No Hassle Replacement period (with a labor allowance for the dealer). Restrictions apply. Contact your local Comfortmaker distributor for details
